Paying for care

Insurance & self-pay

Much of the psychiatry available in this region is private pay only. This practice takes insurance, which for many people means a visit costs closer to a copay.

How billing works

Headway handles insurance verification, claims and billing for this practice. When you book through Headway you can add your insurance and see an estimate of your cost before the appointment, rather than finding out afterward.

That estimate comes from your plan, not from us, which is the main reason we point everyone there instead of quoting figures on a website.

Insurers this practice has worked with

  • Aetna
  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
  • Carelon Behavioral Health
  • Cigna
  • Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey

Plan participation can differ by state and can change over time. Always confirm your specific plan on the Headway profile before you book — that page reflects current participation, and this one may not.

Self-pay

Self-pay is available for people who are out of network, prefer not to involve insurance, or have a plan that is not accepted. Current rates are confirmed directly before scheduling.

Not sure where you stand?

Send a note through the contact form with your state and your insurer, and we will point you to the right answer. Please do not include medical details or member ID numbers.

Questions

About cost and coverage

Why does the website not list prices?

Because what you pay depends on your plan, your deductible and your state. Adding your insurance in Headway gives you a figure specific to you, which is more useful than a range that may not apply.

Does being licensed in a state mean my plan is accepted there?

No, and this trips people up often. Licensure and insurance participation are separate. Check the Headway profile for participation in your specific state and plan.

Can I use out-of-network benefits?

Some plans reimburse out-of-network care. Your insurer can tell you what your plan allows and what documentation they require.

What if my plan changes mid-year?

Let us know as soon as you can, and update your insurance information in Headway so billing stays accurate.
