Mental health assessments
A thorough first conversation designed to turn "something has felt off for a while" into a clear picture you can actually act on.
What an assessment covers
An assessment is a structured conversation. It covers what you have been experiencing and for how long, what your day looks like now compared with before, sleep, energy, focus, appetite and stress, relevant physical health and medications, past treatment and how it went, and what you want to be different.
It is not a test you can fail, and there is no right answer. The point is to gather enough information that any recommendation afterward rests on a clear picture rather than a guess.
What happens
From first conversation to a plan
You describe what is going on
In your own words. No terminology required, and there is no need to have it organized in advance.
Steven asks follow-up questions
To fill in timeline, patterns and context that are easy to leave out when you are the one living it.
You review it together
What the picture suggests, in plain language, along with what is still unclear and would benefit from more time.
You decide on next steps
Therapy, medication, both, or watchful waiting with a follow-up. The decision is made with you, not handed to you.
A note on diagnosis
A single conversation cannot always produce a definitive answer, and an honest provider will say so. Some pictures become clear over several appointments. Where there is uncertainty, Steven will tell you rather than force a label.
Two ways forward
You do not have to be certain to take a step
Some people are ready to put an appointment on the calendar. Others want to understand the details first. Both are welcome here.
Start your booking
Headway is where appointments, insurance and billing are handled. You will see current availability, add your insurance for a cost estimate, and choose a time that works.
Book an appointmentA short contact step comes first, then Steven’s live Headway schedule.
Ask before you commit
Plenty of people want to understand how virtual care works, whether their plan is accepted, or what a first appointment is like before booking anything. Send a short note and we will answer.
Ask a questionNo appointment required. Please leave out medical details.

Next step
Take the next step when you feel ready
